This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions. Responsibilities Job duties for the Ward Clerk include:

  • Patient registration
  • Filing
  • Processing physician orders
  • Distribution of reports
  • Data entry on NSHiS
  • Typing correspondence and reports using medical terminology
  • Receipt and distribution of mail
  • Maintaining workload and statistical data
  • Other job related duties
  • Grade XII
  • Graduate of a post-secondary secretarial or office administration program or equivalent required
  • Graduation from an approved Medical Terminology course required
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in an area with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Good attendance and work record
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
