Lifeline is a trusted national charity that has been saving lives for more than 50 years. In Queensland we deliver Lifeline’s crisis support services through 10 Lifeline Centres – Lifeline 13 11 14 and Lifeline Online Chat.

Our network of 130 Lifeline retail shops across Queensland sell new, donated and pre-loved goods to help fund our crisis support services. We also export to overseas communities, sell rags to industry and run our Lifeline Bookfest and other events to further support our services and help save lives.


Our Brisbane North and South Regions are undergoing a revitalisation and we are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, creative and driven people to support us to reach our full potential. We are currently recruiting for the positions of Shop Assistant to join our team on an initial Casual basis, with the possibility of converting to Permanent Part Time. 

Should you accept the challenge, your mission will be to create an environment that will provide a premium consumer experience while developing and executing initiatives to drive business results. From the moment an item is donated to Lifeline to the moment a potentially lifesaving call is made, at least 38 pairs of hands have been involved, each and every pair symbolically supporting the caller.


To be successful in this role, we will be looking for the following skills and attributes:

  • Be passionate about Lifeline and be able to articulate its purpose
  • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service and exceed customer expectations
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and eagerness to learn the fundamentals of all store roles, including but not limited to customer service, visual presentation, online marketing and stock control.
  • Ability to communicate promotional event information to maximise results
  • Ability to identify issues and opportunities based on trends and customer feedback
  • Setting and exceeding priorities to meet daily deadlines; developing plans to meet short-term objectives
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to use a retail business systems, POS and Microsoft Office; and
