We are looking for a dynamic and motivating leader. Are you someone who loves to seek new business, cold call and develop their team? If you like to achieve KPIs, increase profitability and are passionate about sales- this role is for you.

Established for over 30 years and the largest Australian owned brand in the direct to retail sector. Simson are a publisher and distributor of greeting cards with nearly 2,000 retail customers and 4,000 different designs.

In this predominantly field based role, the State Sales Manager - VIC & TAS will be responsible for managing the servicing of all retail customers and for the sales in all independent retail customers within the VIC & TAS Region. Developing new business will be a crucial part of this role.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Proactively Lead, Manage and Develop a sales team of 3 Business Development Managers.
  • Be hands on with approximately 70% of the week in the field.
  • Source and secure new business within retail locations that meet Company targets.
  • Drive sales in existing accounts to financial forecasts, whilst not exceeding the expense budget.
  • Demonstrate proven negotiating skills with retailers within a highly competitive market place.
  • Continually evaluate and improve processes, procedures, systems and reports to create efficiencies within the organisation.
  • Report to the National Sales Manager.

This position requires a proactive approach and the successful applicant will be sales orientated. We seek a person who can demonstrate a successful background in sales and leadership. Your presentation skills, initiative, resourcefulness and ability to create solutions will need to be clearly articulated.


We are looking for applicants with sales and people management experience. You will have dealt with a variety of customers including independent and multiple retailers. Experienced Business Development Managers are strongly encouraged to apply for the role.


A background in Gifts, Cosmetic or Fashion Industries would be highly considered. You will be commercially savvy and ideally have experience gained within a fast moving consumer goods company.


You will have excellent computer skills with above average knowledge in Word and Excel.

You will be proactive, cope with multiple tasks, be a team player and enjoy working within a fun, fast paced and seasonal deadline driven environment.


We encourage you to visit some Simson accounts like Myer, David Jones or major newsagents before the interview. We will ask you to present a strategy for growing the state. Outline how you would approach the first 4 weeks on the role.


As this role is based in the same state as our Head Office, you may be required to attend our Laverton and Fitzroy offices from time to time. Overall you role will be mainly in the field and you will be required to travel within Victoria and to Tasmania.
