The Better Buying Team is dedicated to supporting the Endeavour Drinks Commercial Division deliver incremental sales and profit, while ensuring we offer great value to its customers and remain competitive in the market. You will work alongside the Commercial teams to unlock incremental trade investment from suppliers, manage supplier cost increases, make pricing decisions and improve promotional effectiveness, among many other short, medium and longer term initiatives.

About the role

As a key member of the Better Buying & Pricing team, you will be responsible for supporting the achievement of commercial outcomes during supplier negotiations primarily across BWS and Dan Murphy’s brands, with a particular focus on the Wine category. You will partner with the Wine team to provide commercial analysis, decision support and ad-hoc modelling to drive incremental trade investment, simplify the types of investment already in place and support validation of supplier cost submissions - supporting Endeavour Drinks’ ambitions as a customer-first retailer.
 
In this role, you will act as a trusted partner to Category Managers, Merchandise Managers and senior stakeholders. 
 
Day-to-day, you will: 

  • Develop commercial models to understand supplier performance and drivers for the Wine category across our retail brands to uncover, understand trade investment and simplification opportunities
  • Develop and enhance engagement packs and commercial narrative to support acceleration and increased coverage of opportunities
  • Scenario modelling to support evolving negotiation strategies achieve the optimal outcome
  • Embed the usage and comprehension of the Better Buying tools and models across stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement in conjunction with other Trade Investment Analysts and the wider Better Buying & Pricing team

About You

You are currently a Commercial Finance Analyst, Assistant Category Manager or in a similar commercial/strategic role with a retail lens with ability & experience to manage large data sources and quickly synthesise information with strategic thinking capabilities & deliver actionable insights. You have a proven track record in building partnerships quickly to influence and drive commercial outcomes. 

Previous experience in a pricing, commercial, finance or strategy role within a fast-paced retail or consulting environment, with exposure to the liquor industry is highly valued. 

Advanced knowledge and experience using MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, SQL, TableAu are essential for this role.
