Trader - Meat | The Fresh Food People

Our team in Meat are unique and we don’t have vacancies often. We all work together, we are supportive, communicate well and it shows in our success. We now have the chance for a Trader to join us, if you are great with numbers, have meat appreciation and passion, understand the importance of moving stock, production or manufacturing coupled with a drive to be the best then this may be your chance

  • A position where your suggestions and ideas are welcome, have support but not be micro managed.
  • Negotiating cost of goods daily with suppliers
  • Daily managing stock on hand nationally across multiple Distribution centre’s and meat case ready / processing plants.
  • Preparing weekly production instruction’s to processing facilities.
  • Strategically planning promotion’s with the retail and marketing teams.
  • Managing production dates daily.
  • Monitoring and reducing potential wastage and clearance.
  • Analysing data and trends.
  • Planning annual events for a species.
  • Liaising with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicating with transport providers

About You

This role is responsible in delivering a range that is better for customers, simpler to execute and enhances our customer’s perceptions of our value, quality and range whilst delivering to target on sales growth profitability and Market share. In addition, the Trader manages all aspects of a category and reports to a Category Manager in relation to Product, Price, Promotions, Placement and Own Brand.

To be successful you will have:

  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to use a practical approach when required..
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and impact on Cost of Goods
  • Prior experience in a FRESH protein supply chain environment.
  • A high level of communication skills.
  • The ability to think strategically and change your thought process with the market.
  • Experience in reducing wastage and working to make the supply chain more efficient.
  • To be a team player
