The Assistant Store Manager is critical in both maximising sales and creating an outstanding customer experience to in-bound Telstra customers. You will also be responsible for managing the retail shop operations in the absence of the Store Manager. You will coach and develop the next leaders in our business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coach our Retail Consultants in store day-to-day for the delivery of sales and customer experience targets.
  • In the absence of, and alongside the Store Manager, act as manager ensuring the team maximises sales
  • Responsible for induction of new team members, as well as delivering all core and ongoing training.
  • Execute business initiatives to meet and achieve store targets for each quarter of the financial year by setting and tracking monthly sales and customer experience targets.
  • Monitor the store’s performance to achieve sales and customer experience targets.
  • Monitor the store’s compliance against central operating standards and processes as well as manage performance to improve operational excellence.
  • Support the team with high level system and product knowledge (full training on Telstra systems and products will be given)
  • Resolve basic store level customer complaints.
  • Ensure adherence to the agreed customer sales model within the store
  • Manage the shop floor to effectively control customer flow and store traffic
  • Manage staff to customer demand and operational requirements.
  • Coach and develop the next group of leaders for our stores

Store Hours:

  • Monday- Wednesday 9:00 AM-5:30 PM
  • Thursday 9:00 AM to 9:00PM
  • Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Sunday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Must have 7-day availability, you will be on a rotating roster with 5 days on and 2 consecutive days off

Your training will take place across a group of stores in the South Eastern suburbs of Brisbane. We do this to ensure that we quickly grow your knowledge and give you a supportive community to work within. Once trained, we will place you in a store within the same region where you can start building the career you have always dreamt of.

What we’re looking for:

  • Outstanding communications skills
  • Proven team lead/people leadership experience in hospitality and/or retail environment
  • Ability to successfully execute against key KPI metrics (sales, financial and customer)
  • Advanced understanding of customer needs and proficient in resolving customer issues and creative problem solving
  • Proven track record working within a high-pressure, high-pace, customer-orientated retail environment
  • Advanced understanding of people skills that will drive embedded behaviours for changing products and systems
  • An ability to work in a team with the goal of developing others for future opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive work environment through support and inclusion
  • Advanced ability to execute business improvement initiatives, and support the change agenda in store
  • Ability to action store improvement opportunities and collaborate across teams to achieve common goals

Previous experience in the telecommunications industry would be an advantage.
