As the leading global retailer of athletically inspired footwear and apparel, we are looking for an individual who will be responsible for the astute and timely selection of product merchandise (Footwear / Apparel / Accessories) based on the accurate interpretation of athletic fashion trends while protecting the integrity of the premium Foot Locker brand. The role is critical in the achievement of planned sales, (gross margin) profit & stock turn targets to ensure the on-going success and growth of the Asia Pacific Division.

Responsibilities

  • Business Performance:
    • Purchase and manage suitable product (Footwear / Apparel / Accessories) to achieve the Division’s annual sales, (gross margin) profit & stock turn targets.
  • Business / Technical Functions:
    • Option to Buy Process
    • Execute the OTB process in a timely and efficient manner taking into account current inventory levels, budget limitations, product requirements and initial margin levels.
    • To ensure the respective range sheets are updated & current
    • Additional Buying Opportunities
    • Work closely with the respective Planning & Merchandising teams at FLAP to identify current /additional buying opportunities, execute product allocations (by Store), recognise past and emerging trends, analyse sales results, and to isolate aged inventory lines
    • Vendor Relationships
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with major vendors / suppliers to identify relevant product lines, exclusive ranges, analyse sales results, monitor product delivery, attend product line viewings, identify RTV product volume and to undertake pricing terms and negotiations.
    • Business Partnership:
      • Develop and maintain effective communication channels and working relationships with key internal clients including the Planning & Allocations Team, EMT and Senior Buying Executives in the U.S
    • Organisational Compliance:
      • Maintain the organisation’s core values (integrity, leadership, excellence, service, teamwork, innovation & community) at work and when representing FLAP at external functions and events.
      • Adhere to all Foot Locker policies, procedures and guidelines.
    • Industry Monitoring:
    • Monitor emerging issues, trends, opportunities and best practice innovations in the retail, sports and fashion industries and to monitor the status of the major competitors of FLAP
    • Project Management:
    • Undertake additional projects as directed by the Senior Director Buying.
    • Qualifications
      • Certificate in Business and/or Diploma in Retail
      • 3 years’ experience working in Operations / Marketing / Allocations/ Planning
      • 5 years’ experience working in the Retail industry (preferably sports/footwear/apparel)
      • Strong Analytical, Administrative, and Organisational Skills
      • Great ability in negotiation and networking
