The purpose of this role is to show leadership and excellence in the merchandise planning for Beginning Boutique. Not only is this person excellent on the tools and can check through work, set up all new systems and strategies they can also lead their team to also be excellent. This role exists to improve our profitability, business mix and support growth in the merchandise area. 


  • Strategic reviews on trade weekly and daily to report on risk, opportunities and react to trade to ensure targets are hit.
  • Ownership of stock health with head of buying and design - maximise stock turnover and minimise dead stock. 
  • Set strategy for avoiding sell outs and set benchmarks for your team.
  • Weekly MFP reviews for OTB, budgets and forecasts that are timely and accurate and result in stronger trade.
  • Oversee the markdown management in line with markdown budgets.
  • Set markdown framework in partnership with key stakeholders. 
  • Oversee the development of the OTB, assortment framework and option plan for total brand ensuring all regions are accounted for. 
  • Review margin requirements to achieve company KPIs ensuring that the option plan meets customers needs as well.
  • Anticipate problems and develop creative solutions. 
  • Conduct monthly swots with the buying and planning team. 
  • Ensure key item/ volume lines are developed seasonally.
  • Direct post seasonal analysis and seasonal strategy - style analysis, category analysis, commentary on performance. 
  • Oversee the development of the OTB and assortment option plan framework for total brand.
  • Manage the quantification of the range and work with the head of buying and design for a sign off. 
  • Attend range meetings and review the ranges to ensure all brand strategies and financial KPIs are being met at all times. 
  • Develop sales and inventory budgets by category and by region. 
  • Review size curves and size offering with planners. 
  • Continually identify and develop with the head of buying and design opportunities for achieving financial objectives. 
  • Undertake projects as required. 


To be successful in this role you will need to have the following;

  • Accounting, Finance or economics degree. 
  • Trade training in Merchandise Planning.
  • Excellent excel 
  • Excellent budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Analytical capability to apply business performance accurately.
  • 5+ years leading a team
  • reporting into leadership team
