About the Role ...

An opportunity now exists for a talented Cheesemonger, Deli Assistant or Cook/Chef to join our team on a part-time basis for about 20 hour a week.

As a Cheese Team Member you will report to the Cheese Team Leader and work as a member of Cheese Team, within the Hill Street Home area of our West Hobart store, which encompasses cheese, liquor, flowers, homewares, hampers and chocolates. You will work in a fast-paced role focusing on keeping our displays replenished and fresh, and cutting, wrapping pricing and hand-selling Tasmanian's best range of local and international cheeses.

Your day will involve:
Providing responsive, exceptional service to Cheese customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
Cutting, wrapping and labelling local and international cheeses.
Replenishing and rotating the cheese display
Merchandising the Cheese area to create visually enticing displays to encourage customers to sample, learn about and buy cheese.
Recommending and upselling products, including appropriate alternatives or complementary additions.
Assisting customers and your fellow team members across the rest of the department, which will involve working with flowers, homewares, hampers, liquor and chocolates as required.

About You ...

You will have a friendly and open attitude, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You will have extremely good attention to detail and be able to focus on the finer details, such as quality control and presentation of produce, while maintaining an energetic work pace to complete the tasks required during your shift.

You must also have a passion for customer service, love working with food, and enjoy working in a busy store where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of retail professionals.

Flexibility to work across our span of hours, including some weekend work, is also required.

To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

At least 1 year's experience working as a Cheesemonger, Deli Assistant, Cook or Chef and a willingness to learn more about local and international cheeses
Excellent communication skills and a high level of competence in written and spoken English
Significant fresh food retail knowledge and a love of food, cooking, nutrition and different cuisines, which you will share with your team and your customers
Strong judgement and problem solving skills
Ability to work well within a team environment
Strong customer service skills
Acute attention to detail and time management skills
High level of energy and ability to take direction and initiative
Demonstrate self-motivation, adaptability, drive, and efficiency
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Possess a growth mindset with the ability to learn from mistakes and continue learning
Ability to comprehend and follow company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and Workplace Health and Safety.
