  • Bernardi's are looking for a bright, bubbly and helpful MEAT ASSISTANT BUTCHER for our Supermarket.

    ABOUT THE ROLE....

    The Assistant Butcher is required to cut, prepare, wrap & label meat products to replenish the meat display case & associated displays as well as provide our valued customers enthusiastic and friendly customer service and assist with their questions or queries as required. A key aspect of this role is the ability to work as a member of a team.

    In this role you will be Responsible for

    • Strong culture of safety including correct use of all equipment as well as knives, mesh gloves, bandsaw, mincers, trolleys, ladders etc.
    • High standards in visual presentation and store standards to maximise sales.
    • Ensure the execution of pricing, promotions & marketing plans.
    • Inventory management including stocktaking & ordering.
    • Outstanding customer service standards
    • Quality and safety duties including receiving, inspecting and storing of product, whilst also maintaining date and rotation of products
    • Profit and loss management, correct markdown process to minimise waste.
    • Ensure you support and follow all direction and tasks given by your Dept manager.
    • Safety & compliance management including participation in Department audits
    • Ensure accuracy of purchase orders & invoices, including placing of claims.
    • Be aware of & follow all Company’s procedures and policies
    • Effective communication ensuring good relationships with team & managers
    • Ensure a happy workplace where people love to come and work.
    • Other duties, as required

    QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK SKILL REQUIREMENTS 

    • Exposure to retail meat department
    • Food safety certificate – desired but not critical
    • Sound knowledge of purchasing, ranging, and merchandising of Dept to drive sales.
    • Sound Knowledge in the management of waste control therefore gross profit
    • Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to listen, follow and execute given tasks
    • Demonstrate ability to follow & execute given targets, standards & processes
    • Intermediate computer skills – desired but not critical
