About the Role ...


An opportunity exist for talented Deli Team Members, Cooks, Chefs or other experienced food professionals to join our team on a full-time basis.


As a Deli Team Member, you will report to the Deli Team Leader and work within the Deli Team in a fast-paced role focusing on serving customers across the entire range of products in the Deli, and keeping our stock rotated and replenished, ensuring that only top quality products are displayed for our customers' visual delight.


Your day will involve:

  • Providing responsive, exceptional service to Deli customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
  • Recommending, upselling and offering alternative or additional complementary products.
  • Slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing Deli products, which include cold meats, smallgoods, fresh meat and fish.
  • Replenishing and merchandising Deli displays during the day and ensuring disciplined stock rotation routines are upheld.
  • Ensuring that work areas, storage areas and coolrooms are clean and tidy at all times.
  • Completing checklists at specified times throughout the day which includes recording temperature and wastage.

About You ...


You will have a friendly and open attitude, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You will enjoy dealing with customers and helping them in any way you can. You will be enthusiastic in your approach to your job and maintain an energetic work pace to complete the tasks required during your shift.


You must also have a passion for customer service, love working with food, including smallgoods, fresh meat and fish, and enjoy working in a busy store where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of retail professionals.


Flexibility to work across our span of hours, including weekends and early starts, is also required.


To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • At least 1 year's experience working predominantly as a Deli Team Member in another food retailer, or as a Cook, Chef or other food professional in a retail food outlet or in hospitality (if you do not have this experience, please apply for our Casual /Part time Team Member - Entry Level roles instead).
  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of competence in written and spoken English
  • Very good retail food product knowledge and a love of food, cooking, nutrition and different cuisines, which you will share with your team and your customers
  • Strong judgment and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • A friendly and responsive customer service style
  • Very good attention to detail and time management skills
  • High level of energy and ability to take direction and initiative
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, adaptability, drive, and efficiency
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A growth mindset with the ability to learn from mistakes and continue learning
  • Ability to comprehend and follow company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and Workplace Health and Safety
